Matt graduated from Monash University in 2012 and spent a number of years working in emergency medicine, intensive care and anaesthetics before adapting his skills to general practice.
Matt likes to educate and encourage his patients to make informed, evidence-based decisions, whether maintaining health or treating illness.
Matt enjoys all aspects Matt has an interest in sports medicine, having completed a Certificate of Sports Medicine in 2018. Matt has also completed additional courses in procedural skills and dermatology and is available for skin checks and minor surgical procedures.
Outside of work, Matt can usually be found surfing or spending time with his family.

Elaine graduated from Flinders University of SA in 1988 and worked as a GP in Mt. Gambier before moving to Melbourne in 1995.
Elaine owned and operated a clinic in Mooroolbark for more than 20 years before making a sea change in 2020. She enjoys family medicine and being involved in ongoing patient care, and is enjoying working part time in Drysdale.
Outside of work, Elaine is enjoying exploring the Bellarine Peninsula and spending time with family and friends.

Maxine graduated from medicine at The University of Melbourne in 2006 after training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. She has done further training at The Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg and University Hospital Geelong, before commencing General Practice. She has lived and worked on the Bellarine since 2009.
Maxine likes to provide holistic and up-to-date, evidence-based care in the treatment and prevention of all types of medical problems. She works collaboratively with her patients in an empathic and non-judgmental manner to help them to optimise their physical and mental health outcomes.
She has a special interest in Women’s Health, Adolescent Health, General Medicine (including Chronic Disease Management) and Sexual Health. She is accredited to insert Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Devices (including Mirena™ and Kyleena ™) and is associated with the Trans Gender Diverse Special Interest Group for the Geelong region.
Outside of work Maxine likes to spend time in the outdoors, hiking, camping and snorkeling with her 2 children, and often with her giant shaggy dog in tow.

Anita graduated from Melbourne University in 1999 and completed her Fellowship in General Practice in 2004. She has leadership roles at Barwon Health and Deakin University as well as being a GP at Drysdale Village Medical Centre. Anita is currently the Director of Medical Education at Barwon Health and a senior lecturer in the School of Medicine at Deakin University. She works in General Practice 2 days/week.
Anita is passionate about patient centred care and prevention of chronic illness. She has many interests in medicine including family planning and is a shared care practitioner for Obstetric care at Barwon Health. She enjoys the warm relationships with patients and their families that being a regional GP enables and loves caring for multiple generations within a family.
Anita’s leadership and teaching roles in medical education include clinical communication facilitating, academic support and remediation, simulation as well as education program development and evaluation. She believes that teaching junior doctors, peers and medical students helps her to remain knowledgeable and focus on being compassionate in her care.
Outside of work, Anita is busy raising 3 teenagers and a dog and enjoys ocean swimming, kayaking, diving and hiking to keep fit (and sane!).

Phoebe has extensive experience in women’s and children’s health, including at Eastern Health, the Royal Children’s Hospital and Western Health.
Phoebe is passionate about providing holistic and contemporary medical care to babies, children, teenagers and women at all life stages.
Phoebe is a Bellarine local, who enjoys walking her dog and surfing.

Lauren worked as a GP registrar in Warrnambool during 2021 and has recently relocated to Bellarine Medical Group to continue her training in 2022. Lauren’s areas of interests within general practice include women’s health and mental health. She endeavours to create a safe and welcoming environment for all patients.
Outside of work Lauren enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching the Geelong Cats, painting and playing the piano.

Wally graduated from Medical School at Deakin University in 2020. Since that time, he has worked at Ballarat Base Hospital and Geelong Hospital, gathering a range of skills relevant to General Practice from the areas of General Medicine and Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Ear, Nose and Throat, Obstetrics and Mental Health.
Wally enjoys all aspects of General Practice but has particular interest in preventative health and the management of chronic diseases, family medicine, and eating disorders.
Outside of General Practice, Wally likes to spend time with his young family on the Bellarine, and he enjoys gardening, woodworking, and personal fitness.

Matt is a GP with a passion for helping people. He has been working in hospitals across South Australia and Victoria since 2018, and has loved every minute of it.
In 2022, Matt started his RACGP training and passed his Fellowship exams in 2024.
He has also had the opportunity to undertake extra training at the Melbourne Sexual Health Clinic, which has given him valuable expertise in this area. With his vast experience and specialised training, he is committed to providing inclusive, compassionate care and creating a safe environment for all patients, including those from the LGBTQ+ community.

Chris graduated from The University of Newcastle in 2013, where he completed internship and residency in the Hunter New England area. For the next 8 years he studied and practiced as a Registrar in Physician training. Chris has practiced in many different locations before coming back to Geelong as an ED Registrar to complete his Emergency Medicine Certificate. Recently, Chris has worked in Terang as a GP registrar prior to coming to Bellarine Medical Group.
His special interests are Adult medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr Jacqui Shand, joins us as part of her Specialist GP training. Jacqui completed her medical degree in Glasgow and has been working as a doctor in Australia for the last 20 years, including lots of time in remote and rural areas and doing Emergency Medicine. When not at work Jacqui spends time in her garden growing food, walking her energetic kelpie and hunting down vintage kitchen wares!
